Placing holds

  1. Place items on hold using the Library website catalog or by contacting us. Holds may take longer to fill due to library closures within the Sage Library System. Not sure what you want? Our staff may be able to recommend items that suit your interests.
  2. If you receive a hold notification, please call the numbers listed below to initiate Curbside Service. 

Picking up your holds

  1. Request Curbside Service by calling the numbers below during the Curbside Service Hours or email info@hoodriverlibray.org.

    • Cascade Locks (541) 374-9317 
  2. Library staff will collect your holds and items selected through recommendations and prepare them for pickup. Pickups are limited to 15 items.
  3. Go to the Library’s designated Curbside Pickup Location at each branch. This will be marked by signage at each location.
  4. When you arrive at the Library’s Pickup Location, call the number to the library or ring the doorbell on the table for further instructions. 
  5. A staff member will answer and ask for your information. For your safety and ours, please maintain 6′ of social distance. There is an X of blue tape on the sidewalk showing where it’s safer to stand.
  6. We’ll place the items on the table for you to pick up once we close the front door. 
  7. Enjoy your library materials!

What is Curbside Service?

Curbside Service allows patrons to pick up library materials that have been placed on hold. Each Library location has a designated Curbside Pickup Location clearly marked by signage.

What precautions are you taking to protect library users and staff and minimize risk of infection?

The safety of library staff and patrons is our highest priority. Library staff will follow all state and local public health guidelines, including physical distancing, wearing masks, frequent handwashing, sanitizing and disinfecting of workspaces and machinery, and self-monitoring for symptoms.

Library patrons are asked to only return items in the outside book drops. All items returned to the library during this time will be placed in a 72-hour quarantine before being placed back on shelves.

Can I pick up library materials that I have placed on HOLD?

Yes, Hood River County Library District offers Curbside Service for patrons at the Hood River, Cascade Locks, and Parkdale branches. Library staff has worked diligently to develop procedures for Curbside Service that follow social distancing protocols while effectively serving library customers.

Who can use Curbside Service?

All Hood River County Library District and SAGE library consortium cardholders in good standing can use the service. 

How many items can I pick up using Curbside Service?

Pickups are limited to 15 items total. This includes your holds and items selected through recommendations.

Can we check out Library of Things (LOT) items?

We are unable to offer LOT items (Food Preservation equipment, etc.) at this time. We hope to make these items available in the future.
