Holds

Placing your holds

  1. Place items on hold using the Library website catalog.
  2. Or, by calling the numbers below during the Curbside Service Hours or email info@hoodriverlibray.org.

  3. Library staff will collect your holds and items selected through recommendations and prepare them for pickup. Holds may take longer to fill due to library closures within the Sage Library System. Not sure what you want? Our staff may be able to recommend items that suit your interests.
  4. If you receive a hold notification, please follow the directions below. 

Picking up your holds

  1. Go to the Library’s designated Curbside Pickup Location at each branch. This will be marked by signage at each location.
  2. When you arrive at the Library’s Pickup Location, call the number to the library or ring the doorbell on the table for further instructions. 
  3. A staff member will answer and ask for your information. For your safety and ours, please maintain 6′ of social distance. There is an line of black tape on the sidewalk showing where it’s safer to stand.
  4. We’ll place the items on the table for you to pick up and step back from the table. 
  5. Enjoy your library materials!

Printing services

The Hood River Library is happy to announce that, in addition to our curbside pickup book service, we are now offering curbside printing! Email your documents to info@hoodriverlibrary.org with any relevant instructions. When it is ready, we will email you back and you can pick up your documents right away. The first 20 copies are free! Each additional copy is $.15 black and white and $.50 color.

Laptop day use

Check out a lap top during Curbside Services for 2 hours! You can access the Wi-Fi outside our library buildings. You can print directly to our indoor copier at the Hood River Branch or send prints to the info@hoodriverlibrary.org email at the branches and we’ll bring the copies to you. The first 20 copies are free! Each additional copy is $.15 black and white and $.50 color.

What is Curbside Service?

Curbside Service allows patrons to pick up library materials that have been placed on hold. Each Library location has a designated Curbside Pickup Location clearly marked by signage.

When can I pick up items using Curbside Service?

Hood River Branch

What precautions are you taking to protect library users and staff and minimize risk of infection?

The safety of library staff and patrons is our highest priority. Library staff will follow all state and local public health guidelines, including physical distancing, wearing masks, frequent handwashing, sanitizing and disinfecting of workspaces and machinery, and self-monitoring for symptoms.

Library patrons are asked to only return items in the outside book drops. All items returned to the library during this time will be placed in a 72-hour quarantine before being placed back on shelves. Library materials will remain checked out on your account during the quarantine period. No overdue fines will be charged.

Can I pick up library materials that I have placed on HOLD?

Yes, Hood River County Library District offers Curbside Service for patrons at the Hood River, Cascade Locks, and Parkdale branches. Library staff has worked diligently to develop procedures for Curbside Service that follow physical distancing protocols while effectively serving library customers.

Who can use Curbside Service?

All Hood River County Library District and SAGE library consortium cardholders in good standing can use the service. 

How many items can I pick up using Curbside Service?

Pickups are limited to 15 items total. This includes your holds and items selected through recommendations.

Can we check out Library of Things (LOT) items?

Yes, you can now check oout LOT items (Food Preservation equipment, etc.). Please place a hold through our SAGE catalog. The exception is the cherry pitter. You need to call the Hood River Library during Curbside Hours to request the item.
