During the month of May, Beyond the Block will be showing their art exhibition Building(s) at the Hood River Library in the Jeanne Marie Gaulke Community Meeting Room. The art quilts were created by members of Beyond the Block in response to a challenge to make artwork 14” wide by 42” long, with a vertical orientation in representational or abstract design, conveying the concept “Building” (noun or verb).
Beyond the Block (BTB) is a group of fiber artists committed to creating art utilizing quilting techniques. BTB actively searches for venues to exhibit their work. Members challenge themselves to become more educated about art and design principles and to improve creatively on an individual basis. The group meets several times each year to share techniques, discuss topics, updates on current and upcoming exhibitions and to share their current work. For more information about the group, meetings or exhibits contact Kay Skov at kkskov@gmail.com.
The BTB group is affiliated with Columbia River Gorge Quilters’ Guild
