Songwriters in the Round – hosted by the ambassador of song, Steve Hale is a program where three songwriters Steven Hale, Tracy Klass, and Lincoln Crockett each take turns playing an original composition and sharing about why and how they wrote it. The event will be held at Hood River Library on Wednesday, September 16, at 7:00pm. Three sonically creative artists will present their hand crafted-audio treats to you totally acoustically, regaling beautiful melodies, intriguing chord changes, and compelling stories about their songs.
Steve Hale is a singer/songwriter with a soul edge. Steve delivers his brand of blue-eyed-soul-Americana-pop in the tradition of Daryl Hall, Sam Cooke and Bill Withers. His love for melody is woven deeply into the chordal fabric of his songs, making his music rich, sultry glowing and delicious. An Oregon native, Steve Hale has been a singer, songwriter and producer in the Northwest for over 30 years.
Tracy Klas has headlined, shared bills and opened with well known artists such as, Sheryl Crow , Tommy Tutone, 4 Non Blondes, Vonda Sheppard, Jennifer Batton, and more. She has received Multiple songwriting and performance awards, and has been seen at many top venues. She is reminiscent of the old school vocal power and integrity of Grace Slick, Robert Plant and Pat Benatar, mixed with the new and honest textures of Norah Jones, Alanis Morrisette, and Edwin McCain.
Lincoln Crockett is a talented solo performer who delivers standout original songs on mandolin & guitar while playing a heady mix of simultaneous leads, rhythms and chords. Crockett’s superb songwriting, arranging, mandolin and harmonies first helped progressive bluegrass band Cross-Eyed Rosie win over crowds at festivals like Wintergrass (WA), String Summit (OR), Telluride Bluegrass Festival (CO) and Pickathon (OR). He is currently taking a break from performing to devote his time to his family, his energy healing practice, and building a small cabin in the heart of Trout Lake.
The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact us.
