Embracing Fear with Courage of an Open Heart
May 3, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Visit the Hood River Library on Wednesday, May 3rd at 7pm for an inspirational and informative talk on “Embracing Fear with Courage of an Open Heart.”
Ellen will describe how when we cultivate compassion, gratitude, and inner peace we reframe and reduce sensations of fear and anxiety, thereby enhancing well-being in our lives and the lives of all beings we encounter. Ellen shares some of the evolutionary psychology behind why the human brain is predisposed to over-exaggerate threats, undervalue our capabilities, and be susceptible to judging ourselves and others. She describes how with simple mindfulness practices done in the everyday flow of life we cultivate inner strengths that lay down positive neural structure and tilt our brain away from what neuroscientists call the human “negativity bias.”
This talk is for anyone interested in releasing the grips of fear, anxiety, anger, and judgement and cultivating positive inner strengths of compassion, gratitude, and calm that enrich our lives and the lives of all beings we encounter.
Ellen Donoghue, PhD, is a social scientist and experienced presenter who coaches people on cultivating inner strengths for lasting well-being.
