Willy Vlautin Author Reading [HR]
March 6 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
One event on May 21, 2019 at 6:30pm
Oregon author Willy Vlautin will read from his most recent novel Don’t Skip Out on Me on Tuesday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m at the Hood River Library.
Don’t Skip Out on Me is a story about a young man’s search for belonging, and a powerful exploration of identity and loneliness. An instrumental soundtrack by Richmond Fontaine, which evokes the spirit and setting of this new novel, is available for download.
Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Vlautin started playing guitar and writing songs as a teenager and quickly became immersed in music. It was a Paul Kelly song, based on Raymond Carver’s Too Much Water So Close to Homethat inspired him to start writing stories. Vlautin has published four novels: THE MOTEL LIFE (2007), NORTHLINE (2008), LEAN ON PETE (2010), and THE FREE (2014). His fifth, DON’T SKIP OUT ON ME, is due out in February 2018.
Vlautin founded the band Richmond Fontaine in 1994. The band produced eleven studio albums, plus a handful of live recordings and EPs. Driven by Vlautin’s dark, story-like songwriting, the band, now retired, achieved critical acclaim at home and across the UK and Europe.
