Author Reading: K. Brenna Wardell [HR]
March 21 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
K. Brenna Wardell is a writer and teacher who grew up in Alaska. She has published poetry with several small presses, and her work has been presented at Teatro Milagro in Portland, Oregon, and the Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Valdez, Alaska. She has written for publications such as the Anchorage Daily News and the theatre magazine Callboard and workshopped her poetry at the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. She is currently an assistant professor at the University of North Alabama, where she teaches courses in film and literature.
In her evocative memoir Of Moose and Me, author and scholar K. Brenna Wardell recalls her childhood in Alaska and her powerful interactions with the region’s diverse fauna, both tame and wild. Through a series of concise, vividly realized, and often humorous anecdotes, interspersed with poems that are at once lyrical and introspective, Wardell takes the reader on a journey across time to a place where the distinctions between the human and nonhuman are blurred by an icy Alaskan wind.
